Climate Change: Challenge & Opportunity

After a distinguished career in the computer industry, Imran is now active in the area of climate action as a Market Development Fellow at NECEC, a non-profit membership organization, where one of his activities is to enhance the adoption of Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) in the Northeast US.

Imran is a technologist and entrepreneur, and one of the original founders of OPEN (Boston, March 1998). He co-founded MessageMachines, a mobile messaging startup, where he was VP of Engineering and which had a successful exit. He has worked at several startups in full-time or interim executive roles and helped entrepreneurship initiatives in Egypt, Kosovo, Pakistan, and Serbia on USAID-funded projects. He worked at other large & small public & private companies where he built and shipped many products and participated in the creation of industry-transformative products for financial trading, SaaS, and mobile messaging. His employers include Intel, Aepona (acquired by Intel), L1-ID (Idemia), NMS Communications (acquired MessageMachines), Lotus/IBM, Digital Equipment, Philips, and ICL.

Imran has a BS EE from Peshawar University; an EDE diploma from Philips International Institute, The Netherlands; and, an MS in CICE from the University of Michigan.
